Measles cases in Europe already surpassed 2018 total amid global outbreaks, WHO warn

There have been more measles cases in Europe this year than in the entirety of 2018, the World Health Organization has warned.
In the first six months of 2019 the continent has reported 90,000 cases ? a 120 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
The dramatic rise comes amid a global backdrop of measles outbreaks, with almost three times as many cases reported in the first six months of 2019 compared to last year.
Between January and July 182 countries reported more than 364,000 measles cases, compared to just 129,000 in the first six months of 2018. The figure is higher than any other year since 2006.
