BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland health officials are reporting the state's first death from the West Nile virus.

State health department spokeswoman Dori Henry said Thursday that the department is not releasing any details on the death. Maryland has had 13 cases of West Nile virus so far this year. Nineteen cases were reported last year and 23 the year before in Maryland...

Second Marylander dies from West Nile

A second person in Maryland has died from West Nile virus in what is one of the country's worst seasons for the disease.

State health officials are not releasing details about the deceased for privacy reasons.

The number of the state's West Nile cases has risen to 25 from 21 last week. The cases have been detected in people in 13 counties and all have been adults...
