Mass food poisoning in Asaka, can it be bird flue?
Posted: 04 august, 2007
People have come down with good poisoning on a large scale in the town of Asaka in Andijan Region: about 40 people have been taken to hospital and one of them has already died.
It was established that people had got food poisoning at a wedding party; there is a rush for weddings not only in Asaka, but also all over the country.
The cause of the poisoning, doctors think, was a dish prepared from chicken drumsticks.
In order to take all the poisoned people, the administration of the Asaka town hospital had to organise additional beds. Only one case of death has been made public so far.
A doctor, who is looking after the patients, said that the symptoms of their illness were similar to those of bird flu.
In the meantime, it is not clear what actually happened in Asaka.
