Manitoba reports uptick in COVID-19 activity

After reporting a downturn in COVID-19 activity last week, Manitoba has seen increased cases for the week ending July 23.
There were 242 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases reported across the province during the week of July 17-23. That is an increase from the 171 reported in the previous week.
Testing decreased slightly to an average of 269 people per day compared to 276 the previous week. The province reported a 17.1% positivity rate, an increase from 13.9% the previous week. Since March 2020, more than 1.5 million tests have been done in Manitoba with an overall test positivity rate of 10%.
Hospitalizations also increased with 45 admissions including eight into intensive care. Three people died as a result of COVID-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,061 Manitobans have died as a result of the virus.
