Manitoba public health officials report three new COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday and a nine-patient decline in hospitalizations.
There are now 720 people in hospital with the virus while the province's death toll related to COVID-19 is now 1,524.
There have been 132 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in January in Manitoba. That makes it the fourth-deadliest month of the pandemic, so far.
The three worst months were all during the second wave: December 2020 (355), November 2020 (243) and January 2021 (162).

Manitoba public health officials report three new COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday and a nine-patient decline in hospitalizations.
There are now 720 people in hospital with the virus while the province's death toll related to COVID-19 is now 1,524.

Hospital numbers in Manitoba related to COVID-19 dipped on Thursday as there are 711 people requiring care.
This is down from the 720 patients on Wednesday.
Active hospital cases have also gone down from 655 on Wednesday to 594 Thursday.
Despite the decline in patients, ICU numbers went up from 49 to 51 Thursday. Active cases remained the same at 44...
... The province also announced 14 new deaths, bringing the total to 1,538.
Manitoba added 582 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. The active case count in the province is 28,951, which is an almost 11,000 case drop compared to Wednesday.
However, health officials have previously stated that not all cases are being recorded as those who test positive on a rapid test are not reported, and therefore, the case count is likely higher.
Manitoba performed 1,769 tests on Wednesday and the five-day test positivity rate is 30.6 per cent province-wide...

Public health officials advise 23 new deaths in people with COVID-19 are being reported today:

The RBC provincial vaccine clinic is open for walk-in appointments.
Manitobans who are eligible for a third dose, or booster, are urged to get one. The booster dose is readily available to everyone over age 18 in Manitoba. It is most important that those who are age 50 and over get immunized with a third dose right away, because this age group is experiencing – and will continue to experience – more severe outcomes, including hospitalizations, ICU admissions and deaths.
Manitobans who live in First Nations communities, have diabetes or are immunocompromised are urged to get a third dose. A complete listing of the medical conditions that would classify a person as immunocompromised can be found at https://protectmb.ca.
Delivering the second round of vaccines to children ages 5 to 11 is continuing in many locations, including schools. It is recommended by Health Canada, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization and public health that the second dose be administered eight weeks following the first dose.
As of today, a total of 69,757 first doses have been given to children ages five to 11, or 55.8 per cent of that age group.
Manitobans are encouraged to get their second and third doses as quickly as possible. While COVID-19 vaccine appointments continue to be available at regional or provincial vaccine clinics, for many people the fastest way to be immunized is at a nearby medical clinic, pharmacy or urban Indigenous clinic. Check the online vaccine finder or a medical clinic or pharmacy near you that provides the COVID-19 vaccine to find the next available opportunity to be immunized. The timeline between second and third doses and eligibility criteria information can be found at https://manitoba.ca/covid19/vaccine/...-criteria.html.

COVID-19 admissions to hospital saw another climb over the weekend as there are currently 735 people requiring care.
According to the province's dashboard, 633 of those patients have active COVID.
In the ICU there are 56 patients, 47 of which are still infectious.
Despite seeing the climb in hospitalizations, the province said in its COVID-19 bulletin that there was a decrease in overall admissions.
For the week ending Jan. 27, there were 334 new hospitalizations, which was down by 15 per cent compared to the previous week. However, ICU admissions did go up by 2.5 per cent.
There was also a case count drop of 29.2 per cent during that week.
Manitoba also added 19 new deaths since Friday, bringing the total to 1,562.
The deaths include:
Four on Saturday – a man in his 40s, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s from the Prairie Mountain Health Region, as well as a woman in her 70s from Winnipeg;
Five on Sunday – two men in their 80s and a man in his 50s all from Winnipeg and two men in their 60s from the Interlake-Eastern Health Region both linked to the outbreak at the Tudor House personal care home;
10 on Monday – two men in their 80s, three women in their 70s, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 40s, all from Winnipeg, as well as a man and woman in their 70s from the Southern Health Region and a woman in her 80s from the Northern Health Region.
The province said 505 cases of COVID were added on Monday, bringing the active case count to 31,535...

There have been 15 COVID-related deaths over the past three days in Manitoba, while hospitalizations decreased by five, the province's online dashboard says.
There are now 702 people in hospital with the virus, which is the lowest it's been in just over two weeks.
The latest deaths — which bring the total for the pandemic to 1,600 — were reported as five on Monday, seven on Sunday and three on Saturday.

There have been 15 COVID-related deaths over the past three days in Manitoba, while hospitalizations decreased by five, the province's online dashboard says.
There are now 702 people in hospital with the virus, which is the lowest it's been in just over two weeks.
The latest deaths — which bring the total for the pandemic to 1,600 — were reported as five on Monday, seven on Sunday and three on Saturday.

Three more people in Manitoba have died after getting COVID-19, while hospitalizations of people with the illness went down 19, the province's online coronavirus dashboard says Thursday.
The update brings the total number of people with COVID-19 in hospital in Manitoba to 661, including 42 in intensive care units — down one since Wednesday.
Those patients make up nearly 44 per cent — or more than two out of every five — of the total 96 ICU patients across the province, a spokesperson for Shared Health, which oversees health-care delivery in Manitoba, said in an email.
Before the pandemic, the critical care program's baseline capacity was 72 patients, the spokesperson said.
Two of the people who died were from the Prairie Mountain Health region and one was from the Winnipeg health region, the dashboard says. The latest deaths bring the total number reported in the province to 1,616.
More details about the people who died, including their age and sex, are expected in the province's next COVID-19 news release on Friday.
