There are 153 new COVID-19 cases and one death in Manitoba on Friday, the province's coronavirus data site says...

...There were 88 cases in people not vaccinated, 10 in people only partly vaccinated and 55 in people who are fully vaccinated....

....The five-day test positivity rate in the province is now 5.4 per cent, down 0.1 per cent from Thursday.

There are 134 people in hospital with COVID-19, down two patients since Thursday. That includes 24 in intensive care.

Currently, 53 per cent of people in hospital with active COVID-19 are unvaccinated, four per cent are partly vaccinated and 43 per cent are fully vaccinated.

In the intensive care units, 82 per cent of active COVID-19 cases are unvaccinated and 18 per cent are fully vaccinated...

Manitoba is reporting 10 new deaths related to COVID-19 since Friday, along with 342 new COVID-19 cases.

The case count includes 124 cases on Saturday, 132 cases on Sunday, and 86 cases on Monday...

... The province said 34 cases on Monday were in Manitobans who weren’t vaccinated, six were in people who are partially vaccinated, and 46 were in people who were fully vaccinated...

... There are 142 Manitobans hospitalized with COVID-19 including 98 people with active COVID-19 as well as 44 people who are no longer infectious. There are also 25 Manitoba patients receiving intensive care for COVID-19, including 19 people in intensive care units with active COVID-19. The remaining six people are no longer infectious but still need critical care.

Of the active cases in hospital, 52 people are not vaccinated, 42 are fully vaccinated, and four are partially vaccinated.

Among the active ICU cases, 16 are not vaccinated, while three people are fully vaccinated.

Manitoba’s five-day test positivity rate is 5.1 per cent, while in Winnipeg, it is 2.7 per cent.

The province says no cases of the Omicron variant have been detected in Manitoba at this time, and all positive travel-related specimens are being sequenced...

Manitoba reported 128 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths on Tuesday.

The Southern Health region leads in both categories with 66 of the latest cases and three of the deaths.

The other death is from the Prairie Mountain Health region, which has 11 of the new cases...

...Of the 128 cases reported Tuesday, 69 (54 per cent) are in people who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 and seven (five per cent) are in people who were partially vaccinated.

The other 52 (41 per cent) are in fully vaccinated people.

Data on the most up-to-date hospitalizations and number of patients in intensive care units is not currently available on the province's dashboards.

The province's five-day test positivity rate increased marginally to 5.2 per cent from 5.1 per cent on Monday.

There is no update on the rate for Winnipeg, which was at 2.7 per cent on Monday...

Manitoba reports 124 new cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths on Wednesday...

...No cases of the B.1.1.529 or omicron variant have been detected in Manitoba at this time, though a few have emerged in other parts of the country, including in Ottawa, Quebec and Alberta.

At this time, 24 people who have travelled to 10 African countries and arrived in Manitoba are being required to quarantine, Chief Provincial Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin said in an online news conference on Wednesday.

Officials are sequencing all positive travel-related COVID-19 test results to monitor for the presence of omicron in Manitoba...

...A total of 143 people are in hospital with COVID-19. Among the 93 with active cases, 46 people are unvaccinated and 45 are fully vaccinated; two are partly vaccinated.

There are 96 Manitobans in intensive care units, including 24 who have COVID-19. The pre-pandemic baseline was 72 ICU beds.

There are 172 new COVID-19 cases and three more deaths reported in Manitoba on Thursday, the province's online coronavirus dashboard says.

About 60 per cent of the new cases are among people who aren't fully immunized against COVID-19, the dashboard says.

Eighty-nine cases are in people who are not vaccinated at all, while nine are in people partly immunized and 74 are among people fully vaccinated against the illness...

...There are now 147 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Manitoba, the coronavirus dashboard says, up four since Wednesday.

As of midnight, there were a total of 98 patients in Manitoba's intensive care units, a Shared Health spokesperson said in an email. That includes 24 patients diagnosed with COVID-19, the province's coronavirus dashboard says.

Before the pandemic, the critical care program's baseline capacity was 72 patients, the spokesperson said.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Manitoba is now 1,356...

Manitoba reports 147 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths on Friday.

The Southern and Winnipeg health regions have 75 per cent of the new cases, with 64 and 46, respectively, a news release from the province says...

...Three of the four new deaths were in the Winnipeg health region: a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s and a woman in her 100s. The other death, a man in his 70s, was in the Prairie Mountain Health region.

The province also released more details about three deaths reported on its dashboard on Thursday. There are no COVID-19 news releases issued on Thursdays, so only the numbers were reported.

Two of the deaths reported Thursday were from Southern Health: a woman in her 70s linked to an outbreak at Salem Home long-term care home in Winkler, and a man in his 90s linked to an outbreak at Third Crossing Manor in Gladstone. The third death was a man in his 80s from the Prairie Mountain Health region.

There have now been 1,328 deaths from COVID-19 in Manitoba.

The five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 5.1 per cent provincially and 2.7 per cent in Winnipeg. Both of those numbers are unchanged from Thursday.

Of the 147 new cases on Friday, 95 are in people not fully vaccinated...

...There are 141 people in hospital with COVID-19, which is a decline from 147 on Thursday. That includes 23 in intensive care units, a drop of one from Thursday.

Among those hospitalized with active COVID-19, 51 per cent are unvaccinated and 44 per cent are fully vaccinated; five per cent are partly vaccinated.

When it comes to the most severe outcomes, however, the split is different. Of the patients being treated for active COVID-19 in intensive care units, 87.5 per cent are unvaccinated and 12.5 per cent are fully vaccinated...

The province has reported more than 500 COVID-19 cases have been identified since Friday.

According to a provincial COVID-19 bulletin released Monday, there were 191 cases on Saturday, 211 on Sunday and 137 on Monday.

Manitoba's five-day test positivity rate is 6.3 per cent, while in Winnipeg it is 4.1 per cent...

First case of Omicron variant reported in Manitoba

Manitoba is reporting its first case of the Omicron variant in the province.

According to a bulletin sent from the province on Tuesday, the positive case was a person who recently travelled from one of the 10 federally advised countries and has experienced mild symptoms.

“Public health is conducting aggressive case and contact management,” the province wrote in a statement. “If additional public health risks are assessed and it is deemed necessary to protect the health of others, more information will be released.”

The discovery comes on the same day Manitoba reported 93 new COVID-19 cases and four additional deaths...

... Tuesday’s new cases include 48 people who are not vaccinated, 40 people who are fully vaccinated, and five people with one vaccine dose.

Manitoba’s five-day test positivity rate is 6.4 per cent...

... Currently, 152 people are hospitalized in Manitoba with COVID-19, including 95 people with active cases. Of the active cases, 59 people are not vaccinated, 30 are fully vaccinated and six people are partially vaccinated.

There are 32 people receiving intensive care for COVID-19, including 24 people with active cases. Of the active cases in ICU, 22 people are not vaccinated, while two people are fully vaccinated.

Four new cases of the Omicron variant have been detected in Manitoba, the province announced on Wednesday.

This comes one day after Manitoba reported its first case of the Omicron variant.

The province said one of the individuals recently travelled from one of the 10 federally advised countries, while the other cases are close contacts and are currently asymptomatic.

Manitoba also announced three new deaths from COVID-19 and 178 new cases on Wednesday...

... Health officials said of the 178 cases announced Wednesday, 96 were in people who were unvaccinated, 71 were in fully vaccinated people, and 11 were in partially vaccinated people.

There are 153 people in Manitoba hospitals with COVID-19; of those, 95 people have active cases. There are 34 Manitobans in the ICU with COVID-19, with 26 of these people having active cases.

The province said of the active cases in hospital, 59 are not vaccinated, 29 are fully vaccinated and seven are partially vaccinated.

Of the 26 ICU cases, all but one are in unvaccinated people. The remaining case is in a fully vaccinated Manitoban...

Manitoba reported a daily COVID-19 case count above 200 for the second time in less than a week on Thursday, with 203 new infections in the province.

The update comes just a few days after 211 new cases were reported on Sunday. That marked Manitoba's highest single-day increase in nearly six months.

The latest infections bring the province's seven-day average case count up slightly to 166. Just over half of the new cases are among people who aren't fully immunized against COVID-19, the province's online dashboard says...

...There are now 145 people hospitalized with the illness in the province, down eight since Wednesday, with 35 of them in intensive care, up one.

Those 35 people make up more than one-third of the patients in Manitoba's intensive care units. As of midnight, there were 97 people receiving critical care in ICUs, a spokesperson for Shared Health said in an email.

Before the pandemic, the province's intensive care units had a baseline capacity of 72.

Manitobans who aren't fully immunized against the illness make up 68 per cent of the people hospitalized with active COVID-19 and 96 per cent of those in ICU with active cases...

There are 198 new COVID-19 cases in Manitoba on Friday and one more person has died from the illness, the province says.

The latest infections bring the province's seven-day average case count to 173, the highest since since the arrival of the pandemic's fourth wave in the province.

Nearly 60 per cent of the new cases (116) are among people who aren't fully immunized against COVID-19, the province said in a news release...

...There are now 142 people hospitalized with the illness in the province, down three since Thursday, with 35 of them in intensive care, unchanged since Thursday.

Twenty-seven of the people in intensive care have active COVID-19, while the other eight are no longer infections but continue to require critical care.

Those 35 people make up more than one-third of the patients in Manitoba's intensive care units. As of midnight, there were 99 people, up from 97, receiving critical care in ICUs, a spokesperson for Shared Health said in an email.

Manitoba reports 478 new cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths over the last three days.

There were 163 cases on Saturday, 163 cases on Sunday and 152 cases on Monday, the province said in a news release...

...As of Monday, 142 Manitobans are hospitalized with COVID-19, holding steady from Friday, including 34 in intensive care, down one.

Among those in hospital with active COVID-19, 55 are unvaccinated, 31 are fully vaccinated and four are partly vaccinated.

When looking at those in ICU with active COVID-19, 24 are unvaccinated, one is fully vaccinated and one is partly vaccinated.

The current five-day test positivity rate in Manitoba is 5.7 per cent, the same as it was before the weekend. The rate in Winnipeg is 3.7 per cent...
