Manitoba has recorded its first confirmed case of H1N1 flu this winter.
Health officials said on Monday the case involves someone in their 20s who did not need to be hospitalized and is recovering.
Officials said the person resides in the central health region, but would not identify the community.
Health Minister Theresa Oswald said the case was not unexpected, because there have been almost 70 confirmed cases across the country during the current flu season.
Oswald is urging people to get a flu shot, which this year targets H1N1 as well as several other strains, including seasonal influenza A, which is the regular seasonal flu.
There have been 343 lab-confirmed cases of seasonal flu in the province this season.
Every health region in Manitoba has confirmed cases of seasonal flu, ranging from a high of 124 in the Winnipeg health region to a low of two each in the Brandon and Churchill health regions.
