Man dies of dengue fever in Kooddoo

A man has died of dengue fever in Gaaf Alif atoll Kooddoo.

The first incident of its kind this year was briefed at a press conference held at the Health Ministry today. Asma Ibrahim، Director at Health Protection Agency (HPA) said the man died of dengue was a foreigner working at the island.

Asma said following the death، the Agency has carried out an anti-mosquito fogging operation in the island. She highlighted that number of mosquito reproduction is increasing in the island.

She further said so far two cases of dengue were reported from the island.

Eighteen year old pregnant woman dies of dengue

An 18-year old pregnant woman has died while being treated for dengue fever in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

CNM has learnt that the young woman was 2-months pregnant for her first child at the time of death.

Three hundred and fifty four cases of dengue fever have been reported so far this year, with 112 cases reported in June alone.

7 month-old child in Thulhaadhoo succumbs to dengue fever

A seven month-old child in Baa Atoll Thulhadhoo has died from dengue fever.

According to the island?s Health Center, the child was pronounced dead during treatment at Eydhafushi Hospital?s Emergency Room, following treatments at Thulhaadhoo.

The atoll hospital had previously warned of the high level of dengue fever in the area, and had urged all to take careful measures to avoid contracting the fever.

Five-year old child succumbs to dengue fever

Indira Gandhi Memoraial (IGMH) has reported that a five-year old child has succumbed to dengue fever.


The deceased was Imsa Mohamed (of Haa Dhaal Nellaadhoo).

IGMH?s media official Zeenath Ali Habeeb said that the victim was initially taken to the hospital today around 2:15 p.m., and was pronounced dead at around 3:50 p.m. Imsa was taken to IGMH following treatments from Haa Dhall Kulhudhuffushi Hospital.

Maldives: Schools Closed Over Dengue Outbreak

association minivan news (1)Following an outbreak of dengue fever, the government has closed schools until further notice. At least two people have died from dengue this week.

Speaking at a press conference of a high-level task force formed to control the spread of the mosquito-borne disease, education minister Dr Aishath Shiham said schools are being shut down temporarily to ensure the safety of students.


Special classes will be organised for grade 10 students to prepare for their O? Level exams in October.

HPA receives over 900 dengue reports

The HPA (Health Protection Agency) has on Friday stated that it has had over 920 cases of dengue in 2015.

Fathimath Nazla, Head of the HPA?s Communicable Disease Control department, said at a session on dengue that most of the reported patients are from Maldives? outer lying islands. She maintained that the number of patients reporting the illness has reduced.

An HPA statement in June placed the number of dengue reports for the year at 384...
