KUALA LUMPUR, March 31? Tuberculosis (TB) was the main cause of death under the contagious disease category last year, with a 13 per cent increase in the number of cases.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said there were 1,597 cases of TB-related deaths as reported nationwide last year ? an increase of 183 cases as compared to 1,414 deaths reported in 2012.

Tuberculosis

He said the number of TB cases also increased last year, with a total of 24,071 reported last year, an increase of six per cent or 1,361 cases in relation to 22,710, the previous year.
