Malaysia: Over 200 Perak students struck down by Influenza A (H3) outbreak

A total of 216 students from three schools in Perak here have been quarantined at their respective hostels after showing symptoms of influenza-like illness between Mac 4 and Mac 6.
State Health Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said 129 females students were quarantined in Sekolah Raja Perempuan Taayah, 84 students from Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman and another three from Sekolah Kebangsaan Klebang.

Of the total, he said six samples were taken at the Sekolah Raja Perempuan Taayah with two of them tested positive for Influenza A(H3) or seasonal flu and not H1N1 as reported.

"Another six samples were also taken from Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman and three of them showed that the students were tested positive for Influenza A(H3).
