No new H1N1 death

Ninety-nine new cases of Influenza-like Illness (ILI) were reported as of 8am today, but the cumulative death toll remains at 72 as no deaths were reported over the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said in a statement that 1,374 with ILI were under treatment in 98 hospitals nationwide, with 286 of them confirmed as H1N1 cases.
He said that of the 286 cases, 46 were in intensive care and 32 of them were in the risk category.
Meanwhile, Dr Ismail advised parents to take precautionary measures and only send their children to school if they were in good health. Schools reopen tomorrow after the week-long August holidays.
He said students with fever and cough must rest at home until they had recovered and did not show any symptom of ILI.
"This is because even a mild case of ILI can spread the virus to others. It is feared that they might spread the virus to those in the risk category and this could lead to complications, including death," he said.
Dr Ismail also advised schools to monitor the situation and ensure that only students in good health attended classes.
"Students who are ill should be sent home or to the clinics and, in this way, the school does not have to be closed," he said. - Bernama
