MELAKA: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam is optimistic that the malaria outbreak in Perak can be brought under control soon, provided there is preventive and control support from the people.

He said malaria, unlike dengue fever, could be treated with drugs.

?We are confident that we can control this epidemic, but it requires the cooperation of the people in a given area because malaria spreads in the same way as dengue, chikungunya and zika, through mosquitoes...

New malaria outbreak reported in Perak
The tests conducted upon the victims show that the outbreak in Pos Poi were caused by the plasmodium falciparum parasite.

SUNGAI SIPUT: A new malaria outbreak has been identified at an Orang Asli village in Pos Poi, here, today.

It was reported that this new outbreak is not related to the earlier outbreak in Gerik....

...These new cases have raised the total number of malaria victims to 142 from 136 victims.
