In Ipoh, Perak Health Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said a committee comprising various medical experts had been formed to look into the death of Vinoth.

"To my knowledge no other trainees from the camp had been warded."

The teen's father, S.Raman, 47, said he was not satisfied with the initial post-mortem finding and requested for a second one.

Raman claimed that his son was bleeding from the nose after his death. A police report had also been lodged by Raman.

National Service death due to leptospirosis

PETALING JAYA (March 27, 2012): The death of National Service (NS) trainee R. Vinoth on March 12 was caused by leptospirosis.

This was confirmed after a mortality review by the Perak Health Department on March 15.

Its director Datuk Dr Ahmad Razin Ahmad Mahir told theSun today, Vinoth, 18, had contracted the rare and fatal bacterial infection.

"However, there is no way of identifying the source of the infection," said Ahmad Razin.

Health Dept confirms Leptospirosis case in Sibu

SIBU: The state Health Department confirmed a Leptospirosis case in Tiong Hua Road as they went door-to-door to disseminate information to keep the disease at bay.
Its director Dr Zulkifli Jantan said yesterday officers from the divisional health office (DHO) here had carried out decontamination on the drains tested positive for leptospira.
Assuring that there was no cause for alarm, he explained that the intensifying of checks were taken as precautionary measures to keep away the disease.
