67 students in Malacca school quarantined after showing ILI symptoms

MALACCA: Sixty-seven students of SM Sains Muzaffar Shah (Mozac) were quarantined at the school's hostel after showing symptoms of influenza-like illness (ILI).

State Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Gan Tian Loo said 35 of the students were boys.

He said the symptoms were detected on Monday after 77 students complained of having flu, cough, joint pains, sore throat and fever.

"I was informed by the school and also the state Health Department that the outbreak is under control, with the number of students being quarantined dropping after 10 students were confirmed free of ILI virus," he told reporters after visiting the school Thursday.

All the students quarantined were being closely monitored by doctors and nurses from the Air Keroh Health Office, he added...
