Pune: Even as leptospirosis scare is looming large over patients at Sassoon General Hospital, senior authorities are keeping mum on the issue although they have formed a committee to probe the alleged scare created by the disease.
For the past two days, several patients have been allegedly exposed to the infection due to infestation of rodents and unhygienic conditions in the hospital.

Sassoon Bachao Samiti member Dr Sanjay Dabhade said, ?The issue is serious as many patients are falling prey to this illness. Present water scarcity has led to unhygienic conditions which could have accentuated the rodent menace. Immediate action must be taken as patients admitted for other illnesses can contract this bacterial infection.?
