PUNE: A 36-year-old-man from Loni Kalbhor died of swine flu at a city hospital on Sunday, taking the H1N1 casualty count here to one this year, so far.
Also, the condition of another swine flu-infected patient is currently critical and he has been put on ventilator at a city hospital.
The deceased developed influenza-like illness on December 24. He had fever, cough, breathlessness and a sore throat.
Initially, he sought treatment from neighbourhood doctors. However when his condition worsened, he was referred to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune where he was admitted on December 31. He was given supportive respiratory care at the hospital after he developed severe breathlessness. When he didn't show any improvement, he was put on the ventilator.
PUNE: A 63-year-old woman succumbed to swine flu at private hospital here on January 12. This is the H1N1 casualty registered within a week in Pune.
The city recorded the year's first swine flu casualty on January 8 when a 36-year-old man from Loni Kalbhor died of the infection at a city hospital.
In view of the two casualties within a short time, doctors have advised people to be alert and take precautions to ward off the disease.

MUMBAI: After last year's lull, the H1N1 infection has struck early this year, claiming six lives in the state in January alone. However, the number of positive cases is not too alarming at this moment, said state officials.
Around 10 positive cases have been reported across the state, including one from the city of a child in Malad. Deaths have been reported from Parbhani, Osmanabad and Pune. Mumbai fortunately has not seen any casualties so far. After creating havoc in 2015, affecting over 8,000 people in the state and claiming more than 900 lives, the virus almost went dormant last year. In 2016, there were less than 100 positive cases in Maharashtra.

The thing that is intriguing the medics is that the minor has no history of travel to an affected region. Also, in the locality he resides, no H1N1 cases have been reported so far. Suspected to be the city?s first H1N1 case this year, the boy is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital where he was admitted a week ago. According to the civic health department, the five-year-old developed cough, cold and fever in the last 15 days. ?The confirmed results of H1N1 came on Wednesday. He has been given prophylactic and treatment has begun,? said Dr Minni Khetarpal, deputy executive health officer at BMC. He tested positive for H1N1 after doctors sent a sample to a private laboratory to confirm the disease.
[h=1]Pune: Man dies of H1N1-related complications[/h] A 58-year-old man from Kolhapur, who was undergoing treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, succumbed to H1N1 (swine flu)-related pneumonia on Tuesday. The patient died due to acute respiratory distress syndrome and multi-organ failure, said the doctors.
He had been suffering from cough fever and breathlessness since February 11. Before being shifted to Pune?s Deenanath Mangeshkar
Hospital on February 18, the deceased was being treated at a private hospital at Sangli. He, however, succumbed to H1N1 related complications, added the doctors.
H1N1 claims 2 more lives, toll rises to four this year

PUNE: Two people, including a senior citizen, succumbed to swine flu at different hospitals in the city last week, taking the number of H1N1 casualties to four this year, so far. Besides, condition of two more patients is currently critical and they have been put on ventilator.
The deceased have been identified as Rambhau Kirme (58) of Nandani village in Kolhapur district and Devgonda Patil (65) Deshmukhwadi village in Ahmednagar district.

Pune: Swine flu claimed 10 lives while infected 44 people in the state this year so far.
"A total of 10 have succumbed to the disease this year, including four in Pune, three in Solapur, two in Aurangabad and one in Nashik. Also, as many as 44 people were infected of the dreaded disease in the aforementioned period," officials from the state health department said.
Besides, condition of three infected patients is currently critical and they have been put on ventilator support at various hospitals in Pune (2) and Nagpur (1).

Woman died on Wednesday during treatment. The swine flu vaccine is available in the municipal hospital. Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has implemented various measures to prevent swine flu.

PUNE: As many as six swine flu patients admitted to various hospitals in the city are in critical condition and have been put on ventilator support.
... The H1N1 virus has claimed 10 lives and infected over 50 people in the state since the beginning of this year. A majority of these cases have been reported from cities like Pune, Nashik, Solapur, Aurangabad and Nagpur.

[h=1]Swine flu claims 13 lives, over 50 cases recorded[/h] Pune: At least 13 deaths have been reported due to swine flu (H1N1) virus since the beginning of the year in western Maharashtra, according to medical authorities.
Health officials said Pune recorded six deaths since January this year, Solapur recorded three, Aurangabad two and Nashik and Kolhapur one each.

PUNE: In a sudden rise, 16 people have died of swine flu in Maharashtra in the first 12 days of this month, taking the H1N1 toll to 26 in the state this year, so far.
Five swine flu patients, including three from Pune and one each from Pimpri-Chinchwad and Nagpur, are in a critical condition and have been put on ventilator support.
A total of 101 people have tested positive for the disease in the state, including 50 from Pune city and 13 from Pimpri-Chinchwad, 11 from Nashik and four each from Kolhapur and Aurangabad. Sporadic cases have also been recorded in Mumbai (2) and Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (1).

NAGPUR: A 46-year-old woman from the city died of swine flu at a private hospital on Sunday. This was the first death of the year due to swine flu, said doctors. Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) health department said the decreased woman was Kalpana Chahale, a resident of Narendra Nagar, South-West Nagpur.

PUNE: As many as 14 people died of swine flu in Maharashtra last week, taking the number of swine flu casualties to 40 since January.
A sudden spurt in swine flu deaths has put health authorities on their toes as the virus has claimed 30 lives this month so far. There has also been a perceptible rise in the number of swine flu-infected patients turning critical, with 16 patients currently on ventilator support in different hospitals across the state.

The state health officials have intensified screening of patients having influenza-like illness. "As many as 3.87 lakh patients have been screened since January 1. Among those screened, a total of 4,124 patients, who were suspected to have contracted swine flu, were administered Tamiflu," a state health official said.
[h=1]Maharashtra: 18 swine flu deaths in Pune, 7 in PCMC[/h] THE DEATH of a 60-year-old woman on Thursday marked the 18th death due to swine flu in Pune since January 1, this year . The death of a one-year-old boy from Chikhali due to H1N1 virus marked the seventh death according to Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation authorities.
The woman, who breathed her last at a city hospital, was a resident of Kothrud and was admitted to the hospital for the past few days and had tested positive for the dreaded H1N1 virus on March 20. The one-year-old boy from Chikhali died on March 22 at Y C M hospital, Pimpri.
Since the beginning of the year, there has been a spike in the number of cases of suspected swine flu in Pune. In the latest case, the patient was admitted to the hospital on March 17 with complaints of bodyache, fever, cold and breathlessness. Her throat swab was collected on March 19 and sent to the Pune-based National Institute of Virology (NIV) where it was confirmed to be a case of swine flu on March 20.

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation authorities have declared high alert for swine flu in the city. Since January, about 105 swine flu cases have been registered in the Department of Health. Out of them, 17 patients lost their lives.
Since few years, Pune has been one of the major targets of swine flu attacks. This year the city is worst hit and 17 of 48 lives lost due to the fatal infection are from Pune.

[h=1]H1N1 kills 6 in March in Pimpri Chinchwad[/h] PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: Six people have died due to the H1N1 virus in Pimpri Chinchwad city in the last one month, taking the total number of casualties to seven since January.
PCMC's medical officer of health (MOH) Anil Roy told TOI that the seven people were admitted at municipal hospitals in Pimpri.
A civic health department official said that five of the seven people were women. The official added that four patients resided outside the municipal limits.
On March 22, a one-year-old boy from Chikhli died of H1N1 at civic-run YCM hospital on March 22, taking the total number of deaths this month to six. He was admitted to the hospital on March 20, and his positive report was received only on March 23.

Pune: A 38-year-old woman died on March 21 after she tested positive on March 17 for swine flu.
As of now, 16 people have lost their lives to swine flu in the month of March alone. Since January a total of 20 deaths have been reported in Pune by the Health Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
After March 17, two children - a one-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy, from Ahmednagar lost the battle against swine flu in not more than 48 hours. Both were residents of Ahmednagar and succumbed to swine flu after they tested positive for the same.

Nashik: Swine flu continues to claim lives in the city. The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has registered about 14 deaths due to swine flu in March, as against one in February. There were no swine flu deaths reported in January. In contrast, last year, the city had reported a total of four swine flu deaths.
