Swine flu toll goes up to 8 in Indore; H1N1 pattern under study

Indore: Swine flu claimed eighth life in the city on Monday in last two months. This was the second consecutive death due to the decease in two days.


Vinod Kothari, 54, a resident of Tilak Nagar area who was admitted at the Bombay hospital died due to swine flu on Monday evening. On Sunday another patient Subhash Patel, 30, had died. He was also admitted at the Bombay Hospital.


Kothari was detected positive on September 11 and was admitted at the hospital. Since then, his condition was critical, hospital sources said.

Four more test positive for H1N1

BHOPAL: After a lull during the previous week, four patients tested positive for swine flu in the state capital on Tuesday. Test reports of 10 samples of suspected H1N1 cases were pending with the ICMR laboratory in Jabalpur.

The district chief medical and health officer (CMHO) said the four new positive cases of swine flu are residents of Rajgarh, Raisen, Ashok Nagar and Sehore.

"The condition of the four is considered critical. It includes three girls," said CMHO Dr Pankaj Shukla. Three girls are admitted in private paediatric hospital are quarantined.

More dengue cases in Bhopal: Two more persons tested positive for dengue here on Tuesday. District malaria office (DMO) claimed patients are undergoing treatment in the hospital and their condition is stable. Health officials said a 12-year-old girl tested positive for dengue. "She was tested with a dengue fever rapid test kit. Another test would be conducted at DMO laboratory," said a health official. If confirmed, it would be first resident of Bhopal to test positive this season. Another confirmed case of dengue was a 45-year-old man, resident of Harda, who was admitted to a city hospital on Tuesday.

Survey to tame swine flue

INDORE: Health officials are looking serious to tame the virus of swine flue and for that they are conducting epidemiological survey of the positive patients found so far in the district.

Talking to media, incharge of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme ( IDSP), Dr G L Sodhi said, all hospitals in the district have been told to furnish the information regarding patients of swine flue.

This survey will enable the department to understand the pattern of the disease.

Swine flu claims one more life in Indore

INDORE: Swine flu claimed yet another life on Monday leading to four deaths from H1N1 disease this season from city and nearby districts. The deceased was identified as a 23-year-old female patient from Ujjain who was rushed to Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital on Monday with respiratory problems.

According to health department officials, the patient was referred from Ujjain but she died on way to the hospital.

This takes the total toll due to swine flu in the city this year to two while two others who died in city are from neighbouring districts. Meanwhile, 12 new samples were sent for confirmatory test to the Jabalpur-based lab. On Sunday, four samples were tested positive with flu.

All positive patients have been admitted to various hospitals in the city. A total of 63 samples have been sent for confirmatory test to Jabalpur lab, of which 51 reports have been received by health department. 17 patients have been confirmed positive with the flu while five positive patients have been discharged.

Dr Ashok Dagaria, chief medical and health officer said, "The situation is under control. Five patients who were undergoing treatment have been discharged so far. However, people should take precautionary measure to avoid contracting flu."

5 more suspected cases of swine flu in Indore

Samples collected from five people suspected of carrying the H1N1 virus have been sent for confirmatory tests, health officials said.

These suspected swine flu patients have been admitted to the private hospitals in the city here, they said.

Out of the 128 suspected cases since May this year, 36 persons were found positive for H1N1 virus and the disease has claimed eight lives so far.

Swine flu toll rises in Indore to nine

Indore: Swine flu claimed one more life at a private hospital in Indore, raising the death toll due to H1N1 virus to nine since May this year in the Madhya Pradesh city, an official said today.

Pawan Patel (32), died last night at Bombay Hospital in Indore, a medical and health department official said.

Patel, who hailed from Ashok Garden in Bhopal, was admitted to the hospital on September 21, where he was confirmed H1N1 positive on 4 October, said the official.

Four other serious swine flu patients are still being treated at private hospitals in Indore, he said.

Out of 133 swab samples tested for swine flu, 37 were found positive, and 96 negative, in the current spell of the viral disease in Indore division since May this year.

Health officials said Akhilesh Kumar, who was admitted to a private hospital here after he was suspected to be suffering from Swine Flu, died yesterday.

Three more samples of patients showing symptoms of the disease have been sent for testing to Jabalpur lab, they said.

I think that this is a misdated report that's being brought up by google - MP's 18th fatality was reported on September 24. The current toll is 25.
