H1N1 alert: Six suspected cases of swine flu detected



Indore: Six suspected cases of swine flu were detected on Monday. In-charge of the Indore unit of Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) Dr GL Sodhi said swab samples of three patients each from Bombay Hospital and Choithram Hospital were collected on Monday. The patients with symptoms of swine flu from Indore and adjoining districts were admitted to hospitals recently.

He further said that three samples from different hospitals were sent to RMRCT on Saturday. The reports were received on Monday and all are negative. Dr Sodhi added that out of total 63 samples sent to RMRCT from Indore till date, reports of 57 have been received. Out of these, 31 had tested positive and 12 deaths were reported. Condition of four patients was stated to be critical.

Indore is much ahead of other cities in the number of deaths occurring due to swine flu this year. Despite world class facilities available in the private hospitals, there has been a rise in number of deaths.
