Macau, China, 29 Dec - The Macau government decided to offer inoculation of A/H1N1 vaccines for all its residents from January 1 next year, in an effort to combat a second wave of A/H1N1 flu, Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On announced on Monday.

Chui announced the decision after the fifth meeting of Macau?s Influenza Coordination Center, which he chairs.

According to Xinhua, Chui said the second wave of A/H1N1 flu may hit the city in January, rather than February or March, according to guidelines of the WHO and opinions of Centers for Disease Control in the US and EU countries.

Therefore, the SAR government has purchased enough doses of A/H1N1 vaccines to get all its residents inoculated.

Macau has about 540,000 including, including around 70,000 imported workers.

According to Chui, permanent residents will get free jabs, while other residents and visitors will have to pay a fee.

Meanwhile, the newly sworn-in chief executive appealed to residents to follow instructions by the Health Bureau and take preventive measures in coping with influenza, according to Xinhua.

The vaccine is provided by the government and is free to all Macau resident identification card holders. So far more than 50,000 residents had been vaccinated.

The Secretary received his flu shot during an inspection of the vaccination clinic at Areia Preta Health Centre last Friday. He said the process of the vaccination was smooth and the medical staff were skillful.

Mr Cheong said the SAR Government valued the health of the residents and had purchased enough vaccines for all Macau residents.

The Health Bureau will work with schools, civic associations and organisations to arrange vaccination program.

#5:
"Over 77,000 inoculated with A/H1N1 flu vaccines in Macao"
...
"Despite recording one case of death after inoculation, the vaccines are safe"

It is a proportion of 1 death event on 77,000 inoculated,
which represent an not so rare event, if we compare the seasonal jab outcomes, and it is not only severe, but it is an deadly event.

Additionaly, it is a quarter more than the publicized relation 1:100,000,
or even >10 times more the one "adverse" event on 1 milion, as somewhere trumpeted last month.
