Macau?s Health Bureau reported an influenza outbreak that has been identified in a secondary school early this week.
A total of 21 students, teachers and staff of the school Estrela do Mar have shown flu symptoms. Only four students are sick, and most had already been vaccinated, the bureau said in a statement.
All patients were submitted for medical treatment and are in a stable condition. However, the Health Bureau confirmed that preliminary lab tests have confirmed that there was one case of the H1N1 virus.
Local authorities have called on the school and general public to observe prevention measures.
They also recalled that since September 15, free influenza vaccines, including a vaccine against the H1N1 virus, are being provided to groups considered at high risk.
