Two baby boys have tested positive for Influenza A (H1N1) and are in critical condition, according to the Health Bureau.
According to a press release sent on Monday night, the babies aged three months and two years and eight months old, respectively, are hospitalized at the public hospital Conde de S?o Janu?rio. On Saturday, the boys? health conditions started to worsen and they began having breathing difficulties.
Neither of the two babies had been vaccinated against influenza nor seasonal flu this year.
In addition, on Monday, the Health Bureau reported a flu outbreak at a nursery and at a children?s home. A total of 15 children aged between one and five years are suffering from flu, of which one is now at the hospital in stable condition.
The bureau has warned residents that, since last week, Macau entered the flu peak season. It is expected to continue for at least four to eight weeks. Thus, it urges all vulnerable residents to get their free flu shots at the health centres.
