Macao reports 1st A/H1N1 death
MACAO, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) --
Macao's Health Bureau Wednesday confirmed that a female patient died from complication related to the Influenza A/H1N1, which is the first fatality in Macao linked to the global pandemic.
Besides contracting the A/H1N1 virus, the female patient also suffered from pneumonia and respiratory failure and had been unconscious for weeks. She died at a local hospital at noon on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, 44 newly confirmed cases were reported by the Bureau on Wednesday, bringing the cumulative number of such cases in Macao to 1,045 so far.
According to the statistics from the Bureau, some six patients who were tested positive for the virus were still receiving medical treatments at local hospitals to date, but their health conditions remained stable.
