The number of suspected dengue cases in the city has gone upto 29 with two new cases being reported from Sitapur Road and Indira Nagar localities on Wednesday.

Both these patients were admitted in the Fatima Hospital of the city.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The two new cases reported on Wednesday were of 29-year-old Narendra Shukla of Bharatnagar, Sitapur Road and 55-year-old Sunita Srivastava of Indira Nagar.

[/FONT][FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Meanwhile, the Chief Medical officer has issued a warning to all the private hospitals of the city to send a sample of the dengue cases to the health officials as well. ??Despite our earlier notice none of the private hospitals have sent their reports thus from tomorrow onwards strict action will be taken against those who will not submit their reports,?? said KK Singh, the Chief Medical Officer.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Meanwhile, talking to Express Newsline, Dr VK Jaju, the deputy Chief Medical Officer who is also the incharge of the dengue teams in the city informed, ??Though the number of new cases are rising, we are ensuring the regular anti-larva and fogging activities so as to restrict the disease from spreading.??

Lucknow, Oct 11 (ANI): People of Lucknow are not dependent on the administration to save them from Dengue. They have adopted different ways to fight the disease, which has taken a grip on the country.

Some are seeking divine help by performing rituals. They believe that smoke coming out of a fire can neutralise the dengue mosquito.

"The nation is fighting dengue. It has been scientifically proved that smoke coming out of a fire can kill virus, micro-organisms and mosquitoes which cause this disease.

We are doing this Yagna to inform everyone that they can do this as well to fight dengue.

The civic authorities are not responsible for everything, people should also take some responsibilities themselves," said Dr, P K Srivastava, one of the organisers of the ritual.

Meanwhile, some people like Dr. Alok Soni have created a website named www.acstechnologies.com to give information about the mosquito-borne disease to the public.

"Any information about dengue can reach every house through this method.

The administration can come to your locality but cannot come inside your house to tell you the steps to prevent dengue. Through this technique, information about dengue can reach every house because there is at least one mobile in every house.

If a person shows this message to 10 person, then crores of people can have access to this information," claimed Dr. Soni.

The disease has claimed 52 lives so far and over 3800 people are reported to be affected by it across the country.

Dengue fever, for which there is no vaccine, causes excruciating muscle and joint pains, high fever and severe headaches in its most virulent form, it can cause internal bleeding and death. (ANI)

The participants included officials from the Department of Medical Education, Department of Communicable and Vector Borne Diseases and the National Insitute of Virology, Pune.[/FONT]

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Since the Microbiology Department of SGPGI is the only body in the state for detailed viral testing, great inconvenience was felt recently. The samples had to be sent to NICD, Delhi, and the National Institute of Virology, Pune.[/FONT]

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]At today?s meeting, the project was presented by Dr TN Dhole from Microbiology department of SGPGI. It will now be placed before an expert committee formed by the government. Dr Dhole said the plan includes setting up periphery units at a cost of Rs 50 lakh each in the epidemic prone areas.[/FONT]
