    • The Missouri H5/H7 LPAI Initial State Response and Containment plan continues to be implemented and the following response activities have occurred as of 1 April 2011:
      • After RRT-PCR negative results were received from enhanced testing on 30 March 2011 for all houses on the index farm, the market weight birds underwent controlled slaughter within the State of Missouri on 1 April 2011.
      • The 15,000 5-week-old turkeys were depopulated on 31 April 2011.
      • Enhanced surveillance was initiated:
        • All epidemiologically linked flocks have been identified and are undergoing enhanced surveillance testing.
        • Movement control has been implemented within a 10-km zone:
          • Five (5) commercial flocks are located within the 10-km zone and are undergoing enhanced surveillance testing and results are pending.
          • Additional surveillance in the surrounding area has been implemented.
    • Note by the OIE Animal Health Information Department: H5 and H7 avian influenza in its low pathogenic form in poultry is a notifiable disease as per Chapter 10.4. on avian influenza of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code (2010).

      • Cleaning and Disinfection activities are continuing
      • Enhanced surveillance:
        • The five (5) other commercial flocks located within the 10 km zone are undergoing the second week of enhanced surveillance testing and all results have been negative for LPAI.
        • Enhanced surveillance of backyard poultry flocks has been initiated and results are pending.
    • Note by the OIE Animal Health Information Department: H5 and H7 avian influenza in its low pathogenic form in poultry is a notifiable disease as per Chapter 10.4. on avian influenza of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code (2010).
