• Epidemiological comments
  • 150 chickens and 23 ducks reared in the seller's store where low pathogenic avian influenza virus was detected were culled on 11 December 2009. Cleansing and disinfection were implemented on the store and the surrounding area.
  • 23 poultry raising farms in the surrounding area within 10km radius from the store were put under intensified surveillance until 16 December with no abnormality observed. After that, a normal surveillance was put in place. There have been no more positive cases until now.
  • Laboratory tests (antigen, antibody) were conducted on 5 poultry farms which were found to have an epidemiological link with the seller. All results were negative to low pathogenic avian influenza.
