Destroyed 15,000 ducks suffering from bird flu

Continued sampling in the 4 duck farms in the town of Rakovski, where a plain bird flu. No new cases of the disease.

Director of the Food Plovdiv Svetozar Vasilev stated that they were destroyed about 15,000 birds to prevent the spread of infection. In his words, the disease is detected in the course of routine inspections in four of duck farms in Rakovski.

"From 16 to 23 December in taking routine samples from our inspectors found low pathogenic avian influenza, which, I must point out to reassure the public is non-pathogenic to humans, it refers only to birds, this is an ordinary influenza. Very rarely accompanied by clinical manifestations. It is difficult to prove at first and only laboratory testing can be proven, "said Vassilev.

Once confirmation has been received from the disease reference laboratory of the Bulgarian Agency for Food, has proceeded to destroy the birds, said Dr. Vassilev. "After the boom of bird flu worldwide, the European Union give such instructions in its regulation, where it is found that even low pathogenic strain, such measures can be tampingaut to or destruction of the herd on the farm" said Vassilev.

Since then no new cases, said Dr. Vassilev. He said the emergence of the virus can not be predicted with certainty.
