Local First Nations get ready for potential pandemic (Portage La Prarie area)

Although not yet as much of a problem for southern First Nations as their northern neighbours, H1N1 flu has been on the radar of local reserves.
The Southern Chiefs Organization Inc. recently held a training seminar in Winnipeg to get their members ready for any potential pandemic outbreak posed by the virus.
Sandy Bay First Nation home and community care co-ordinator Virginia Ianchuk was among the representatives from that reserve to attend the seminar.
"They gave an example of an incident and how we would address it," Ianchuk said of the training.
