Funny you would post this I've just been reading up on these. And of great interest to me is the 1793 outbreak near Harrisburg and Middletown Pa, I lost relatives then. My family has been involved in medicine forever, in fact a great grandmother several times removed died of yellow fever after nursing men at Valley Forge area and my great grand father several times removed built the hospital nearby. The one in 1793 in Harrisburg is officially listed as unknown cause, but my relatives and information they have from the time say it was influenza.
