Currently in my state a law is on the books requiring a Doctor's note be provided to schools for unaproved student absentees of 3 days or more. Due to legal ramifications Doctors are required to physically see and check the patient prior to issuing the note. This usually requires the infected child to be brought to the Doctor's office potentially exposing other children and adults to the virus. Like many other laws it was put into effect for good reasons but also like many other laws may have unintentioned consequences.
My own school district cites the CDC as stating the justification for students remaining is school that if they were sent home the students would go to the malls or grocery stores (Public places) and be exposed regardless. I was wondering if the area the study these observations were taken from which the CDC is citing 1) had a similar law requiring all students to go to a doctor's office for absentees of 3 days or more and 2) did not exclude doctor offices and health care facilities providing vaccines and treatment from the "public places"? A self fulfilling prophecy?
