The highly pathogenic bird flu H5N1 was also confirmed in the wild birds that died in Krāslava
Today

Laboratory tests confirm that, similarly to Daugavpils, also in Krāslava, the birds found on the island in the Daugava died due to the highly pathogenic bird flu H5N1.

According to the information at the disposal of the Food and Veterinary Service, the municipalities and responsible services in Daugavpils and Krāslava have collected around 1300 dead birds.

In regions where highly pathogenic bird flu has been detected, the Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) conducts increased inspections of poultry keepers...

Authors: Eng.LSM.lv (Latvian Public Broadcasting)

Avian influenza H5N1 which has been raging in the eastern parts of Latvia has also been detected in Cēsis and Madona municipalities, as reported by the Food and Veterinary Service (PVD).

Citizens' reports were received in the service regarding dead black-headed gulls in Veselava parish and in Madona. The results of the Bior Scientific Institute now confirm avian influenza.

Dead wild birds, particularly waterfowl, should be reported by calling the PVD hotline 67027402 or by informing the nearest PVD administration...
