Record-high number of people test positive for Covid-19 as confirmed cases grow by 48 on Tuesday

RIGA, April 1 (LETA) - With another 48 people testing positive for Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Latvia has grown to 446, the Center for Disease Prevention and Control informed.

Altogether, 1,003 people were tested for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours. The total number of Covid-19 tests conducted so far reached 15,810.

The daily rate of increase in Covid-19 cases is 11 percent, according to LETA's estimate.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 infection cases in Latvia has reached 458, growing by 12 cases in the past day. Meanwhile, Lithuanian media report 649 confirmed coronavirus infection cases.

The latest data for Estonia depicts 858 COVID-19 infection cases.

Five deaths from the virus are confirmed in Estonia. 33 people have recovered from the virus so far.

In Lithuania the number of deaths from complications caused by the virus has reached eight. The number of recoveries has reached seven.

So far a total of 16 834 people have been tested in Latvia for COVID-19, as reported by the Disease Prevention and Monitoring Centre (SPKC). 32 patients have been hospitalized, including 29 suffering from medium symptoms and three suffering from heavy symptoms.

RIGA, April 3 (LETA) - With 35 more people testing positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Latvia has grown to 493, according to information released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

Altogether, 1,364 people were tested for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours. The total number of Covid-19 tests conducted so far reached 18,198.

Of the 31 Covid-19 patients that are being treated in hospital, 28 are cases of moderate severity and three are severe cases, which means the patients have pneumonia and need ventilation...

Latvia confirms first Covid-19 related death

RIGA - The first Covid-19 related death in Latvia has been confirmed, Latvian Television reports.
The patient was a 99-year-old woman who had been receiving treatment at the Latvian Center for Infectious Diseases of Riga East Clinical University Hospital since March 27. For the first three days, the patient was treated in an intensive care unit.

The latest data for Estonia reports 1 018 infection cases with 103 new infections confirmed in the last day.

12 people have died and 48 have made a successful recovery in Estonia so far.

In Lithuania the number of deaths has reached nine and the number of recoveries has reached seven so far.

Altogether, 1,300 people were tested for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours. The total number of Covid-19 tests conducted so far reached 20,680.

A further 9 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Latvian territory April 6, raising the total number of cases from 533 on Sunday to 542 on Monday.

RIGA, April 10 (LETA) - With 23 more people testing positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Latvia has grown to 612, according to information released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

Altogether, 1,198 people were tested for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours. The total number of Covid-19 tests conducted so far reached 26,656.

Of the 35 Covid-19 patients that are being treated in hospital at the moment, 32 are cases of moderate severity and three are severe cases, which means the patients have pneumonia and need ventilation.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday decided to extend the state of emergency until May 12. Current restriction are not increased, but they are not softened either.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 infection cases in Latvia has reached 651, increasing by 21 new cases in the past day. Lithuania, meanwhile, reports 1 053 infection cases.

28 214 people in Latvia have been tested for COVID-19 so far, according to information from Disease Prevention and Monitoring Centre. 35 patients in Latvia are currently hospitalized. This includes 32 suffering from medium symptoms and three – from heavy symptoms.

So far five people in Latvia have died from health complications caused by COVIR-19. The cause of death of two more patients who died outside of hospital is unknown as of yet, SPKC is waiting for a report.

During a joint meeting on 14 March, Latvia’s government and the Crisis Management Council decided to limit the open hours of all culture, entertainment, sports and other leisure venues to 23:00.
