Eleven-year-old Delma Rivera was excited. It was just before Thanksgiving 1969, and her favorite uncle ? her t?o ? was coming from his home in Connecticut to visit the Rivera family at their York County home for the holiday.
Her uncle, Juan Rom?n, would be bringing with him her aunt and her older cousin.
But he also brought with him something Delma had never heard of, something that had just been discovered earlier that year.
He brought a disease that was killing people in Africa.
And it had no cure...
