The Central Laboratory of the State of Paran? (Lacen) should be the third lab in the country to do the genetic sequencing of influenza virus A (H1N1). The objective of this type of study is to understand the behavior of the virus circulating in Parana.
"The study will serve to see if the virus circulating in our country has acquired resistance to antiviral and presents greater virulence," said Secretary of Health, Gilberto Martin.
The negotiations for the start of the study is going on with the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), which has already started the process. In Fiocruz, Instituto Adolfo Lutz (SP) is also conducting a genetic study of the new virus. The first results of this study in S?o Paulo can be seen in the next six months.
Martin stressed that the technical point of view can not be said that the Paran? State is the most critical. "The mortality rate published by the Ministry of Health is calculated by the number of deaths over 100 thousand inhabitants, which just shows that we have more confirmed deaths as the others in proportion. However, the Lacen sued more tests than other states. So, we can only have the true picture of the disease when all States to finalize the analysis of the tests, "he said.
Samples
At the beginning of the pandemic were collected samples from all suspected cases. After resetting the samples dammed the number of tests per day dropped to 50 per day, since the criteria for the collection was modified.
"We are processing in a single day 450 tests for the waiting list was closed. Today, we process an average of 50 tests, since the criteria for the collection was changed and that only samples from deaths, hospitalized people, pregnant women, cases of outbreaks and municipalities that have not yet confirmed cases, "recalled Pilonetto Marcelo, director the Lacen.
