NEWPORT, Ky. -- For the first time since Kentucky declared a statewide hepatitis A outbreak last November, Northern Kentucky is now under outbreak status for the virus as well.

There have been 56 cases so far. One case in particular has officials especially concerned as it involves a food worker.

An investigation by the Northern Kentucky Health Department revealed an employee at the Newport Syndicate was handling food from July 25 and Aug. 11, 2018, when the employee was ill or infectious...

Hepatitis A claims another life in Louisville

A fifth person has died in Louisville from hepatitis A, according to the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness.

The death is the latest in an outbreak of the contagious liver disease that has led to at least 580 cases locally and more than 1,300 statewide.

No details were released about the deceased, including the person’s age and sex. But department spokesman Dave Langdon said the person had been ill with hepatitis A for a long time...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The hepatitis A outbreak in Louisville and other parts of Kentucky is now the worst in the country.

The Courier Journal reports state health officials confirmed Wednesday at least 969 people have contracted the liver disease. State Public Health department Commissioner Dr. Jeff Howard says the outbreak is the worst on record across the nation and in Kentucky.

Three of the outbreak's six deaths were in Louisville. Louisville Metro Public Health department spokesman Dave Langdon says officials confirmed 482 cases...

The hepatitis A outbreak in Kentucky, which started 10 months ago and has affected 71 percent of the state?s counties, has grown to 1,562 cases through late August. This includes 63 new cases reported the week ending Aug. 25.

Fifty-six percent, or 881 people required hospitalization for their illness and 12 people died. Jefferson County has accounted to 593 cases, followed by Boyd and Carter counties with 158 and 120 cases, respectively...

The school district sent a letter home to parents saying that the school will be closed for cleaning. The superintendent says that the person was not a food handler...

Kentucky state health officials have reported two additional hepatitis A (HAV) fatalities during the past two weeks, bringing the death toll to 14.

Since the outbreak was declared last November, Kentucky has seen 1,701 cases in 72 percent of the state?s counties. Of this total, 952 cases required hospitalization.

Jefferson County has reported the most cases statewide with more than 600 with Boyd and Carter counties each reporting more than 100 cases...

The case is reported at the Pilot on Owingsville Road and the employee was involved in food preparation...

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - The Franklin County Health Department says two are dead as a result of the state's ongoing hepatitis A outbreak.

The health department says the two had underlying medical conditions which made their infections more severe.

Franklin County has a total of 28 cases of hepatitis A, and these are the first two deaths for the county.

Latest numbers show Kentucky has had 2,275 cases and 14 deaths as a result of the outbreak, which has lasted approximately one year.

More than one-half of all cases have been associated with illicit drug usage...

Kentucky hepatitis A outbreak tops 3,000 cases

Kentucky state health officials are reporting more than 3,000 hepatitis A outbreak cases since Aug. 2017.

hepatitis AAs of Dec. 1, the Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) has identified 3,021 hepatitis A cases in the current outbreak. Half of these cases required hospitalization and 19 people have died.

This is up from 2865 cases and 18 deaths on Nov. 24...

GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) - The Barren River District Health Department is investigating a case of Hepatitis A in an employee at the Glasgow Burger King. The restaurant is located at 124 James Rogers Rd.

Local public health officials have done an inspection of the restaurant, which did not result in any food code violations. All employees will be required to receive the Hepatitis A vaccine before returning to work...

(WBKO) -- Health officials are continuing to warn the public about the state's Hepatitis A outbreak, and how to prevent getting infected.

As of December 15, the Kentucky Department of Public Health reports that there has been 3,265 total outbreaks of Hepatitis A in Kentucky. Over 170 of those cases are in the 13 News viewing area.

1,625 have been hospitalized, and 21 people have died...

Ballad: 3 Indian Path Community Hospital employees test positive for hepatitis A

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WCYB) - Ballad Health issued in a statement Thursday afternoon that three employees of Indian Path Community Hospital were infected with the hepatitis A virus.

Ballad said they found that out this week and have been in close contact with the health department and are providing vaccinations for all Indian Path employees.

The healthcare system claimed the risk of transmission is low...
