KUWAIT: Paranoia over a second and third wave of swine flu is no longer justifiable, with outbreaks of the disease having significantly subsided, prompting the Ministry of Health to suspend the importation of the swine flu vaccine.

Director of the Pandemics Prevention Unit within the ministry and convener of the Swine Flu Prevention Higher Committee Dr Musab AlـSaleh said in a statement to Al Watan that Kuwait had earlier requested the importation of around 1.2 million doses of the vaccine, out of which the country has so far received 700,000.

According to him, the ministry intends to substitute the remaining amount with other types of vaccines. The official noted that life has returned to normalcy in schools and in hospitals.
