Kongo Central: nearly 80% of pig farms ravaged by African swine fever in the town of Boma!

March 1, 2024079

Friday, March 1, 2024-Boma, the second port city of the Democratic Republic of Congo located 125 km west of Matadi, capital of the Kongo Central province, has had pigsties for a long time that have almost nothing to envy those found in the territory of Kasangulu or even in other provinces of the country.

Unfortunately, not a year goes by without this city being struck by a swine fever which, all in all, very often exterminates many heads of these omnivorous mammals with snouts generally ending in a snout, and whose virus is also transported both by the ambient air and by any human person who has visited a pigsty that has been affected for a long time.

This is mainly the case in this year 2024 where, according to studies carried out by local veterinary experts, it emerges that nearly 80% of pig farms scattered here and there across the city of Boma, are today ravaged by this viral disease with incalculable consequences for the breeders of this species of animals who no longer know which way to turn.

The latter who have nevertheless taken all the necessary measures to ensure the protection of their pigs.
For these veterinary experts, only one solution is essential to protect these pigs against this virus.

This concerns in particular, firstly, the observance of the rules of profilaxtic hygiene which, moreover, is strongly recommended so much so that it remains, for the moment, the safest way to maintain the health of these domestic animals.

To this is added, they informed, the cleaning, on a day-to-day basis, of the pigsties which must be kept in a permanent state of cleanliness.

This would prevent these animals subjected to breeding from being contracted by certain diseases.
