Health team travels to outer island to investigate disease outbreak

TARAWA, Kiribati (Radio Kiribati) --- A team from the Ministry of Health in Kiribati has left Tarawa for one of its outlying islands of Nikunau to investigate the cause of an outbreak of a mysterious disease that has claimed the lives of four children under the age of five. Radio Kiribati reports the deputy director of nursing, Helen Murdoch says the two member team will try and identify the disease and conduct a workshop for nurses on preventative measures to taken if a disease is detected. The team will also educate islanders on how to deal with an outbreak especially on adopting hygienic lifestyle.
