Seasonal Influenza A(H1N1)
829 cases 67 fatalities 01-01-15 Under surveillance
829 cases and 67 death were reported till 34th week ending on 23rd August 2015 from
Kozhikode, Mallapuram, Thrissur , Kannur,Kasaragod, Wayanad, Palakkad, Ernakulam,
Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki., districts. Majority
of cases and deaths were reported from Thiruvananthapuram district.State and district
RRTs are continuing the surveillance in the affected areas All cases are being treated
symptomatically. Health education is being given.

862 cases and 68 deaths were reported till 36th week ending on 06th September
2015 from Kozhikode, Mallapuram, Thrissur , Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad,
Palakkad, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam,
and Idukki, districts. Majority of cases and deaths were reported from
Thiruvananthapuram district. State and district RRTs are continuing the
surveillance in the affected areas All cases are being treated symptomatically.

908cases and 76 deaths were reported till 42nd week ending on 18th October 2015
from Kozhikode, Mallapuram, Thrissur , Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad,
Palakkad, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram,
Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki, districts. Majority of cases and
deaths were reported from Thiruvananthapuram district. State and district RRTs
are continuing the surveillance in the affected areas All cases are being treated

[h=1]High number of H1N1 deaths in 2015 a cause for concern[/h] THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Swine Flu is fast becoming a regular viral disease in the state. With it becoming endemic, the H1N1 influenza has become part of the state health department's communicable disease map.

The state's communicable diseases data for the period between 2011 and 2015 shows a considerable rise in swine flu deaths this year.

Out of the 119 deaths since 2011, this year's count amounted to 78. In 2011, 10 deaths were reported, 15 each in 2012 and 2014, and only one in 2013.

Data from the integrated disease surveillance project (IDSP) of the state health service says that 862 swine flu cases were reported this year. Though the 78 deaths have been attributed to swine flu, health authorities are still in the process of confirming if H1N1 is the direct cause.

"The deaths might have been due to other complications, swine flu would have been just a factor. In 75% of the deaths, it has been found the patients were either diabetic or having serious heart diseases or hypertension," said state swine flu nodal officer Dr Amar Fettle.

Kottayam, and Idukki, districts. Majority of cases and deaths were reported from
Thiruvananthapuram district. State and district RRTs are continuing the

Kerala Wayanad vi. Influenza A
11 cases 00 fatalities 19-12-15 28-12-15 Under Surveillance
Cases reported from ChenadGovt High School, Village/Block
SulthanBathery, PHC/HSC Chethalayam. District RRT investigated
the outbreak. House to house survey done. 09 Throat Swab samples
were collected and sent to MCVR, Manipal; out of those 03 samples
were found to be positive for Influenza A. All cases treated
symptomatically. Source reduction activities undertaken. Health
education given.
