As monsoon advances, Kozhikode shivers with fever

Number of dengue cases in the district is reportedly the highest in Kerala
The advancing of monsoon in Kozhikode district has brought with it a spate of fever cases such as viral flu and dengue. There have been isolated cases of H1N1 (Influenza) and one death. The number of dengue cases in Kozhikode is reportedly the highest in the State too.
According to data available with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, over 20 suspected dengue fever cases have been reported from the district on most days in the past one week. On July 23, there were 27 suspected cases and 11 confirmed cases. On July 22, there were 29 suspected cases and on July 21, one suspected case. There were 24 suspected cases and 15 confirmed cases on July 18. Kolathara, Kuttiyadi, Maruthonkara, Iringal, Moodadi, Chorod, Moozhikkal, and Nadapuram are some of the areas from where dengue fever cases were reported.
Between 1,500 and 2,000 people sought outpatient treatment at various hospitals every day in the past seven days. Scores of others are being admitted with fever symptoms too.
