Two people have died while 17 others are receiving treatment at Narok County Hospital following a suspected cholera outbreak at Nkasuria village in Narok South Sub-County.

Narok County Health Executive Vivian Mpeti said that the health officials at the facility received 19 patients who were exhibiting diarrhoea and vomiting symptoms.

?On January 6 this year, we received the patients apparently from one village in Naroosura ward. Upon arrival one man succumbed while another one died while receiving treatment of the same ailment at a private hospital,? said Ms Mpeti...

Hospitals in Kenya are on alert after the Nairobi county Health department raised the alarm over a cholera outbreak.

Health director Lucia Koyio on Friday directed hospitals in Nairobi county to reactivate their treatment units.

??The county is experiencing a wave of cholera outbreak which was confirmed yesterday [Wednesday] March 20. In this regard, I am requesting all referral hospitals to reactivate their cholera treatment units to prevent the spread of the disease,? a statement read.

She further directed all sub-counties to be on high alert and treat all suspected cases as cholera cases...

...Reports from the hospital say two other staff were admitted in the intensive care unit while 12 were admitted at St Andrews ward.

The hospital gave an update on the disease outbreak on Tuesday.

“We have established that in the last 10 days the hospital admitted, offered treatment and discharged 23 cholera patients. Eight of those reported cases were from The Nairobi Hospital staff,” acting CEO Chris Abeid said in a statement.

A statement dated Saturday, April 20, 2019 said the patients are receiving treatment at The Nairobi Hospital.

Six hospitalised as cholera outbreak hits Nakuru town

Health officials have confirmed a cholera outbreak in Nakuru town saying that, already, six people have been admitted to hospital.

Public Health Officer Samuel King?ori said they are doing everything possible to contain the disease and that they have set up isolation wards to avoid a further spread of the disease.

Speaking in in Nakuru town Tuesday, Mr King?ori urged residents to desist from eating foods cooked on roadsides, boil drinking water and also wash their hands with soap and water before eating.

He said the county has the capacity to contain the disease from spreading as long as the residents follow the rules of hygiene and keep their environment clean...

Over 30 pupils of Chetoto Primary School in Kitale town, Trans Nzoia County have been rushed to hospital after exhibiting cholera symptoms.

The pupils reportedly developed stomach upsets after drinking water drawn from a contaminated borehole.

Kitale Level Five hospital medical superintendent Ms. Lilian Lipesa confirmed that the pupils were suffering diarrhea.

At least six people are receiving treatment at the Takaba Sub-County Hospital in Mandera West after several cases of cholera were confirmed.
County Chief Officer for Health Rahama Abdullahi said four samples sent to the Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) laboratories turned positive for cholera.
?Four patients were admitted to Takaba Sub-County Hospital on Friday and samples taken tested positive but the situation is under control,? she said.
Two more patients with cholera-related symptoms were received at the hospital on Thursday.

Three people have been hospitalized following a suspected cholera outbreak in Kirinyaga County.

Kirinyaga County government has subsequently issued an outbreak alert especially in public places.

According to Kirinyaga County Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri, the sanitation crisis has been aggravated by the heavy down pour and floods in many areas especially Mwea constituency that left residents with no clean water to use.
