MIGORI, Kenya, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- A suspected cholera outbreak in Western Kenya has left at least seven people dead and 80 in critical condition, a medical official confirmed Tuesday.

Migori County Health Director Joseph Gondi said three victims died at a sub-district hospital and four others died at home while waiting to be taken to hospital...

FOUR people from Kibera slum have died following a cholera outbreak. They died at Mbagathi District Hospital on Tuesday.

The hospital's chief executive officer, Andrew Suleh, said 37 patients, including children, are admitted at the hospital.

Dozens of Dead Due to Cholera Outbreak in Kenya

Kenya: Cholera Death Toll Has Hit 50, Says Health CS

THE government is struggling to contain the spiralling cholera outbreak, which has so far killed about 50 in four months.

The Health ministry says 10 counties have been hit by the killer disease, with about 2,520 cases being reported.

"As of May 11, 2,520 cases and 50 deaths had been reported nationally," Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia said in a statement yesterday.

The Ministry report indicates that the counties with the highest death tolls are Nakuru (14), Migori (12) and Nairobi (11)...

NAIROBI, May 19 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from cholera outbreak in Kenya has risen to 65, with at least 3,234 cases reported across the country, authorities said Tuesday.

"Cumulatively 326 new cases were reported in the last one week. This is an increase from the previous week where 226 new cases were reported," Cabinet Secretary for Health James Macharia said in a statement released in Nairobi...

Twenty in hospital after cholera outbreak at the Baringo, Nakuru border

Twenty people have been admitted to Mogotio Health Centre in Rongai Sub-County, Nakuru following a cholera outbreak at the border of Baringo and Nakuru counties.

County director of Public Health and Sanitation Dr Joseph Lenai who confirmed the outbreak Wednesday, said that all the infected patients, among them 11 females and 9 males, had been quarantined and put under close observation by medics.

Three new cases of cholera have been reported in Kasarani estate, Gilgil, bringing the number of cases confirmed in two days to seven.

A woman, her 11 year-old daughter and son, 12, tested positive and were admitted at the estate's treatment center, said the Nakuru county public health officer.
