Before you run out and snap up one of those fluffy little birds in a feed store this spring, consider this: All that cuteness carries salmonella.
Federal health officials have tracked repeated outbreaks from live poultry. In one of the worst, 195 people in 27 states were sickened and two people died from infections traced to backyard flocks. That was in 2012. Last year 158 people in 30 states were sickened from live birds. In another outbreak last year, 356 people in 39 states fell ill...
