Karnataka: 3 villagers die of mysterious fever

Gulbarga: A state of panic gripped Ingankal village of Chittapur taluk as three people have died of a strange fever in the past 10 days. District Health Officer Dr Shivaraj Sajjanashetty told Express that the first death in the village was that of a 70-year-old woman on July 28. She had visited Gundgurthi Primary Health Care (PHC) with complaint of cough and fever just the day before. The second casualty was of a 40-year-old woman who visited the PHC and complained of fever on August 4. She died the same day. Her blood was tested for malaria and result was negative. Cause of her death is yet to be ascertained, he added.
Similarly, 13-year- old Pallavai of the same village visited Gundgurthi PHC on August 6 and complained of fever. After initial treatment as the fever did not subside she was taken to Basaveshwara Teaching and General Hospital but she succumbed to the fever. According to clinical tests conducted in Basaveshwara Hospital Pallavi died due to brain fever.
