SECOND COVID-19 CASE IN HARVEY COUNTY CONFIRMED

The Harvey County Health Department has confirmed its second presumptive-positive case of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, in Harvey County.

The confirmed case is a Harvey County man in his 50s. The man is in home isolation. The Health Department and Kansas Department of Health and Environment will regularly monitor the individual, as well as follow up on all contacts.

Coffey County reports first coronavirus death

BURLINGTON, Kan. (KSNW) – A 90-year-old woman in Coffey County has died one day after testing positive for COVID-19.

The woman died Tuesday after testing positive Monday. The health department says she was one of the 24 people at a Burlington nursing home that tested positive for the virus.

First case of coronavirus in Pratt Co. is community college employee

PRATT COUNTY —Authorities in Pratt County reported their first positive case of coronavirus Tuesday.

The patient is an employee of Pratt Community College, according to a media release from the county health department. The agency did not release the age or gender of the patient. They did say the patient had not traveled, has no underlying health conditions and has been home and in quarantine since March 12. The health department is working to identify and contact any possible contacts with this patient.

Woodson County KS Confirms 3rd COVID-19 Case

WOODSON CO., Kan. — A 3rd person in Woodson County has tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday morning.

The testing was confirmed through the KDHE laboratory in Topeka, KS.

The individual is now isolating and quarantining as instructed.

Reno County records another positive COVID-19 case



Reno County reported its eighth confirmed case of COVID-19 on Tuesday afternoon.

The county received notice of the presumptive positive test at 2:30 p.m., reporting it is man in his 30′s who’d recently traveled internationally.

The man was in home isolation, the notice from the Reno County Public Health Department stated.

The release listed the case as county’s ninth case, but one was a man previously confirmed in Ford County who relocated to Reno County to stay with relatives.

Two local cases have resulted in hospitalization,.

The county is also reporting 92 negative tests results.

Four more confirmed COVID-19 cases in Lyon County

he number of positive and presumed positive COVID-19 cases in Lyon County continued to go up Wednesday.

Lyon County Public Health announced it had found 16 confirmed cases in its Wednesday afternoon situation report — four more than it had at the same time Tuesday. It also announced the number of presumed positive cases had doubled in the past 24 hours, climbing from two to four.

A presumed positive case is one in which a household member of a confirmed COVID-19 case becomes symptomatic. This person does not need to be tested if symptoms are considered mild and can be cared for at home. Normal case investigation and isolation protocols will be put in place.

Eleven Lyon County women have been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus which causes the disease while nine cases were found in men. Three-fourths of the cases were believed to be a result of community spread, rather than travel.

Of the new cases, two were found in people of each age range of 31-40, 61-70 and 71-80 — meaning there are now three people in all of those groups.

8 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in Sedgwick County

Sedgwick County will now release the amount of patients who have recovered from COVID-19.

There have been a total of eight COVID-19 recoveries in the county.

“We were able to share the amount of cases recovered because we now have enough information to release without it being identifiable,” Sedgwick County Public Information Officer Kate Flavin said in an email to The Sunflower.

As of earlier today, there are 64 positive cases in Sedgwick County.

There are a total of 482 cases of COVID-19 in Kansas, with 10 deaths, one of those occurred in the county earlier this week.

Mitchell Co. Prohibits The Use Of Self-Serve Fountain Machines

The Board of Health / Health Officer hereby issues the following order of no longer allowing customers to use self-serve fountain machines:

Per the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, customers are no longer allowed to use self-serve fountain machines until further notice. This includes no longer allowing cups to be refilled. A business may obtain a drink from the fountain machine and deliver to a customer, but a customer cannot obtain the drink themselves.

Smith county, KS requiring quarantine for people who visit other counties in Kansas

So to clarify a few questions in regards to the new order restricting travel to Johnson, Wyandotte, Douglas, Leavenworth, Sedgwick, Coffey, and Shawnee.

When does this order go into effect? Wednesday April 1, 2020 and it affects anyone traveling to Johnson County on or after 3/26/2020 and anyone traveling to Wyandotte, Douglas, Leavenworth, Sedgwick, Coffey, or Shawnee on April 1, 2020 or after.

Who needs to be quarantined? Anyone that is traveling to these counties for "nonessential" business. (such as taking a vacation)

What is considered essential? Essential is travel that is necessary for work or medical appointments. Travel to obtain essentials such as food is acceptable.

What does quarantine mean? Quarantine means only the person that travels to the area needs to remain at home for 14-days. This person is to monitor their temperature daily and monitor for other symptoms, such as cough and/or shortness of breath.

CLOUD COUNTY HAS FIRST COVID-19 CASE

The first positive case of COVID-19 has been reported in Cloud County.

The Cloud County Health Department received notification Wednesday confirming one positive case of COVID-19.

The case in Cloud County is a resident with a recent known, travel-related exposure. The individual is currently maintaining in-home isolation and is stable.

The Cloud County Health Department is notifying all of the patient's contacts and will monitor them routinely for fever and respiratory symptoms. No further information will be given on the patient.

Second and third COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Finney County

FINNEY COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – Finney County Health Department confirmed Wednesday the second and third positive cases of COVID-19 in Finney County.

Finney County Health Department said they’re following KDHE mandates and guidelines for case investigation and working to identify any close contacts of the positive individuals. They said those who may have been exposed will be notified as soon as possible and be monitored for fever and respiratory symptoms.

Finney County Health Department stated both positive individuals are in quarantine and remain closely monitored by the Health Department according to KDHE protocol. No further information about the patients will be released.

30 Douglas County residents have tested positive for COVID-19 so far



Local health officials announced Wednesday that 30 Douglas County residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

The number of cases believed to have been contracted locally dropped from five to four since Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health’s daily update Tuesday, while the number of travel-related cases increased from 18 to 20. Three cases are still under investigation for type of transmission, the health department said Wednesday, and it listed three cases under a new category for people who tested positive after close contact with a previous positive case in the county.

The 30 local cases involve two people in their late teens, 11 people in their 20s, nine people in their 30s, four people in their 40s, two people in their 50s, one person in his or her 60s and one person in his or her 70s, according to a news release Wednesday afternoon. Of those cases, 15 are men and 15 are women, the health department said.

Kansas Says It’s Using Residents’ Cell-Phone Location Data to Fight Pandemic



The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is using a GPS program to track residents’ locations through their cell phones in a bid to slow coronavirus cases, Dr. Lee Norman, the head of department, revealed in a press conference Wednesday.

Kansas is the first state to publicly acknowledge its use of such a program. Norman said that the state was using a platform called Unacast, which compares anonymized GPS data from before and after the implementation of social-distancing measures to track the measures’ effectiveness and offer county-level grades. Norman said that 45 of Kansas’s 105 had counties received an F rating as of Wednesday, while the state’s overall grade sat at a C.

Second coronavirus death confirmed in Shawnee Co.

(WIBW) -- A second person has died from the coronavirus in Shawnee County, according to the Shawnee County Dept. of Health.

Three people in the county have recovered from the virus, two have died, 118 are being monitored and 48 are under investigation. Of those who have qualified for testing, 448 have tested negative.

Also worth noting is that the three recovered cases and the two deaths are included in the total cases, so there are currently 14 cases that are actually active in the county.

Those numbers come from the Shawnee County Department of Health's Coronavirus Community Impact Dashboard, which is available on their website.
