although CDC has planned for "worst case", likely is an outbreak like NYC, but more widespread.
This is really a "hopes and dreams" scenario.

Yes, the liklihood that the virus doesn't change, or develop Tamiflu resistance, or transmit at a higher rate when the temperature makes the virus more stable is went into "hopes and dreams".

So far there is NO deviation from a 1918 re-run.

Was there any comment on volume? Dr Robin Robinson (DHHS) has been widely quoted in the press in the last 24 hours as saying they expect 160 million vaccine doses with no adjuvant in October? More if adjuvant is used. Any mention of these numbers?

CDC is "number averse". I didn't hear any, or expect any.

So if we go with the 1918 scenario, we can expect cases to start coming back in a big way in september and peak in october. Then a third wave in the spring of 2010. With a 2.5% fatality rate? Is this the scenario you predict? Dr. Niman

The flu will be VERY different during flu season. I am not predicting exact dates.

It's a bit early for predicting CFR's, especially since no recent sequences from hard hit areas have been released. Tamiflu resistance alone could significantly impact CFR, as could a vaccine. However, I expect the H1N1 virulence to increase as it adapts to a human host.
