La ministra de Sanidad y Pol?tica Social, Trinidad Jim?nez, reiter? hoy que Espa?a actu? con "proporcionalidad" en la compra de vacunas contra la gripe A y por ello ahorrar? 170 millones de euros al haber podido cancelar m?s de la mitad de las dosis contratadas a las farmac?uticas. Jim?nez insisti? en que las vacunas sobrantes no se vender?n sino que se aprovechar?n probablemente para el a?o que viene.
"En Espa?a no nos hemos planteado en ning?n momento la venta"
, explic? Jim?nez en declaraciones a la prensa durante una visita a Bruselas para preparar la presidencia espa?ola. "Todav?a queremos mantener las vacunas. Son pocas ya las que quedan, pero las queremos mantener para poder hacer frente eventualmente a cualquier escenario que se pueda presentar y sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que es muy probable que el virus circulante el pr?ximo a?o sea el virus de la gripe A y, por tanto, pueda servir incluso la misma vacuna de este a?o para el a?o pr?ximo", dijo.
La ministra de Sanidad explic? que el contrato firmado con las farmac?uticas permit?a a Espa?a devolver parte de las vacunas que se hab?an reservado si no se necesitaban. "Finalmente, de los 37 millones de dosis que hab?amos reservado y contratado solamente nos han servido 13 millones de dosis. Nueve han ido a las comunidades aut?nomas para que pudieran atender a la poblaci?n que estaba definida como grupo de riesgo. El restante qued? en poder de la reserva estrat?gica del Estado para poder atender a cualquier eventualidad", se?al?.
"Esto ha supuesto un ahorro de alrededor de 170 millones de euros sobre lo que inicialmente hab?amos presupuestado", resalt? Jim?nez. "En Espa?a compramos vacunas para los mismos grupos de riesgo que estaban definidos en la gripe estacional, ni m?s ni menos. Y tomamos las mismas medidas necesarias que hab?a que adoptar para hacer frente a picos altos de contagio en los centros sanitarios", prosigui? la ministra.
"Creo que en Espa?a actuamos con mucha responsabilidad, con previsi?n y con proporcionalidad a la situaci?n", insisti?.
La ministra de Sanidad afirm? que la presidencia espa?ola colaborar? con la investigaci?n que pretende realizar el Consejo de Europa sobre si las alertas lanzadas por la Organizaci?n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) sobre la gripe A fueron exageradas y sobre si hubo presiones de las empresas farmac?uticas para forzar a los pa?ses a adquirir vacunas.
