Taubenberger published the sequences in 2005 from the 1918 pandemic. He is now working on expanding that sequencing effort.

If you are interested in the relationships between sequence changes and changes in binding specificity this is a must see.
A lot of interesting work is being undertaken on the structural changes leading upto and after the pandemic which should show the effects of forced drift as the population shifts from immunologically nieve to savy. This ongoing research should also shed light on the process of aclimatisation and re-balance to a new host species which could be useful in planning as a pandemic flu strain becomes a seasonal flu.
