In the meantime, it has been recorded by that 14 citizens of Boyolali are still being treated because of suspect bird flu.

From that number, this includes 10 which are being treated in the doctor's Hospital Moewardi, Solo.

Whereas, three children who were patients that were also suspected of having birds flu died.

Keputusan itu diambil sebagai langkah penanggulangan setelah puluhan warga Boyolali menjadi korban suspect flu burung dengan tiga kasus kematian.

Langkah Pemerintah Kabupaten Boyolali itu mendapat respons positif dari warga pemilik burung. Zamzaini, misalnya. Lelaki ini beserta keluarganya membakar sekitar 2.000 ekor burung puyuh yang ada di peternakannya. Menurut dia, pemusnahan dilakukan setelah Dinas Peternakan Kabupaten Boyolali memastikan burung puyuh peliharaannya terjangkit virus H5N1.

Zamzaini mengaku rela memusnahkan puyuh peliharaannya meski dirinya harus merugi hingga Rp 16 juta. Dia menilai, nyawa manusia lebih penting daripada nyawa ribuan burung puyuh miliknya. Hanya, Zamzaini tetap berharap ada uang ganti rugi seperti yang dijanjikan pemerintah.

Sementara itu, hingga kini tercatat 14 warga Boyolali masih dirawat karena suspect flu burung. Dari jumlah itu, 10 di antaranya dirawat di Rumah Sakit dokter Moewardi, Solo. Sedangkan, tiga pasien anak-anak yang juga suspect flu burung telah meninggal dunia.(*/DEN)
