Japan to resume imports of poultry and poultry products in Taiwan
(Central News Agency reporter Pearl Yang Mar 31, Tokyo) announced today that Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, because of avian influenza vaccination in Taiwan has been well confirmed that with immediate effect the resumption of import of Taiwan's poultry, poultry meat products.
MAFF announced today that with immediate effect the lifting of a moratorium on the importation of poultry and poultry in Taiwan, such as the ban on meat products. This measure also has informed the relevant authorities in Japan.
Taiwan's poultry had been infected with low pathogenic avian influenza virus H5N2, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture on December 17 last year announced a moratorium on the import of Taiwan from the date of such poultry or poultry meat. This makes the Taiwan-related businesses suffer huge losses.
Japanese Ministry of Finance trade statistics show that Japan imports from Taiwan last year, home has 5128 tons of poultry meat, 65 tons of poultry meat, eggs, 148 tons.
