CHIBA: Drill envisages deadly flu pandemic
<!-- End of Headline --> The Chiba prefectural government, in tandem with central government agencies, held a drill Friday to prepare for a possible outbreak of a deadly influenza pandemic.
The exercise involving the Cabinet Office, the health ministry and 18 other government agencies was held at Narita International Airport and other locations.
The scenario was that a new pathogenic avian influenza virus had struck Japan, one that, through mutation, could spread from human to human.
It involved a mock patient arriving by commercial flight from a country where the flu strain was raging.(IHT/Asahi: November 17,2007)
